Cambodian Workers Faint in Droves

Phnom Penh, Cambodia

We Stand As One: The International Ladies Garment Workers Strike, New York, 1909 (Civil Rights Struggles Around the World)

Something is not right here.

Last week over 300 garment workers in two different Cambodian factories fainted.  This past June, 200 fainted at another clothing factory.

Update: September 22, 2011

Workers at one of the sites where workers fainted, Hung Wah Garment Manufacturing, succeeded in a wildcat strike in reaction to the refusal of a supervisor to sign-off on requests for leave.

The company agreed to transfer the supervisor and the strikers returned to work.
